FAQs

Where can I download government logos?

The UK Government logo suite, as well as other departmental logos, are available to download in the Assets and artwork section.

Which logo do I use on departmental social channels?

Departments should use the GOV.UK crown for social media channels and digital advertising.

I am part of an Arm’s-length body. How do I update my logo?

Please contact the design team of your parent department and they will be able to assist you.

Which logo should I use for a UK-based audience?

For assets being communicated towards a nationwide or locally based audience, the default logo is ‘UK Government’. More information about logo versions can be read in the regional logo variations section.

Are we able to solely use our departmental branding for outward comms?

The default logo is UK Government. However, in some cases, the UK Government logo may not be appropriate. Contact branding@cabinetoffice.gov.uk, providing a reason for exemption and to seek permission to use a departmental logo for outward comms instead of the UK Government logo.

When should I use departmental branding?

This is generally reserved for direct communication e.g. email signatures, letter headings and social media.

I’m an outside body, where can I get permission to use a government logo for co-branding?

If you have received content, funding, or support of your service from a government department, then you may be entitled to use government branding. Please ensure you have permission from the department which you worked with. The UK Government logo should be used, rather than a specific departmental logo, and should have prominence whenever possible.

How do I co-brand with Government branding?

Work produced by two or more government departments or agencies should always use the UK Government logo, as UK Government is the master brand. The preferred placement for the logo is in the top left corner of the content.

How should I use the logo for a co-branded, funded or endorsed document?

More information and guidance can be found in the co-branding and endorsements section.

What logo do I use for an overseas audience?

For international use, use the UK Government logo with the union flag. More information about this logo format is available on the regional logo variations page.

I’ve read the branding guidelines, but I’m still unsure.

Please contact branding@cabinetoffice.gov.uk for any further clarification on when and how to use the UK Government brand.
